Ten Toes Down

Fam, do you know what it is to be unbothered? I’m not talking about not giving a damn. In fact, I’ve found that unbothered folks are usually the main ones that give plenty of Damns, Damns, Damns!

No, when I ask about being unbothered, I’m talking about riding for your viewpoint so hard that you don’t care if your opinion makes you unpopular.

Strange concept, I know. Especially now, with everyone addicted to social media, we often confuse getting likes with being liked. I’m guilty of this. Just like you, I’m guessing.

But when you make your living contextualizing pop culture, politics and sports, you can’t care what people think. Well, at least, you can’t let them think you do.

Enter stage left – Emmy winner, Sports journalist, Jemele Hill. You’ve enjoyed her nuanced opinions about everything from Trump to the WNBA on-line, on TV, on podcasts…

Listen, J is about getting that bag, so she’s everywhere. And because of that, you probably think you know her. But as Jemele shared in our transparent conversation, I believe there are few things you might not know.

Like…

  • How stepping foot in a newsroom detoured her dream to become a novelist
  • How she stands on the shoulders of women who raised and shaped her
  • And how she died. Yeah, died died.

Enjoy Jemele sharing truths, Fam.

After you experience our fun conversation and her work-n-progress, you’ll be inspired to become unbothered and cultivate agency for yourself. You’ll also know more about the craft of sports and memoir writing. And you’ll question why the hell we need to learn geometry.

I mean, like, seriously?
