Fam, filmmaking is hard.
But documentary filmmaking?! It’s the truest labor of love.
That’s why I’m grateful to Nichelle Protho, visionary executive, producer-director, for asking me to co-write and help produce her heartsong documentary, “Two Classes of 1968.”
Not only is 2C68 a coming of age story about Catholic school desegregation in Augusta, GA., it’s also a love letter to Black resilience.
And yesterday, we had our first LA screening at the Pan African Film and Arts Festival! The response was rejuvenating and the audience showed us so much love!

My heart was also so full that my tribe – Joy, Daphne, Angela and my incredible hubby, Mr. Simms – came out to support me!
Can’t wait for Nichelle to share 2C68 with more national and soon, international audiences.
We need this important story of American history now more than ever!
For a little something extra, check out my answer to how I approached writing the documentary as a journalist and screenwriter. Yes, documentaries have writers. 😄
