Appreciating Eddie

Fam,  I had the pleasure of watching Eddie Murphy’s bio doc, “Being Eddie,” last night.

I laughed out loud in parts. Teared up in others. But most of all, I watched it through a lens of gratitude.

Grateful that Eddie – as Dave Chappelle so poignantly said – survived his astronomical success.

Michael, Prince and Whitney didn’t.

But Eddie – a skinny Black kid from Long Island, who believed so much in himself, got success so early and paved the way for so many – has lived to tell the tale.

He’s centered in his peace and he’s still going strong.

Will he ever return to stand up? Honestly, I don’t care as much about that. I’m just glad Eddie’s still smiling.

I’m also glad I talked with my friend, comedy writer #MilesGrose about this on my podcuseries, #WorksNProgress.

Check out the insight he shares, Fam. It’ll give you a new perspective.

Then, enjoy our full convo here:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KKMNP9fQfcY&t=2s

And while you’re waiting for Eddie to maybe possibly pick up the standup mic again, check out one of your favorite movies of his to laugh out loud.
