Fam, it’s easy to put your blinders on and focus only on your stuff as artist.
But I believe true artists grow by treating themselves to other mediums of art, and supporting each other.
This month, I had the pleasure of enjoying three amazingly different theatre productions.

The first was a touring production of “Hamilton” at Detroit’s Fisher Theatre. Sistah and her hubby, finding out I had never seen it, treated me to the show. And it was phenomenal! I also understand now why it won so many Tonys and is still a hit worldwide after 11 years.
Second up was Alicia Keys Tony Winning “Hells Kitchen” at Hollywood’s Pantages Theatre. Thanks to my friend, Miko, who always. manages somehow to get me out of the house, I waded through traffic to enjoy this highly energetic show of the cast singing their faces off! If you’re in LA and want to treat yourself to some sangin’, check it before it leaves on June 21st. You won’t be disappointed.
And yesterday, I saved the best for last when I got to see my sister-friend Joy SLAY the stage as Queen Marguerite in A Noise Within’s Pasadena production of “Exit the King.” The theatre is stunning. The production design was excellent. And the performances were amazing.
I, for one – and because I was ear hustling, I know I’m not alone – could not take my eyes off of Joy. My girl DID THAT, you hear me?
Tonight’s the last night, so you’ll have to take my word for it. But hopefully, they’ll put the show up again so you can get to see it for yourself, Fam.
But in the meantime, do yourself a favor and go see a play. Check out a gallery exhibit. Enjoy a dance performance.
If we want art to survive, we, artists and art lovers, have to log offline and support each other.
Now more than ever.
