America is Better Than This

Fam, my heart is heavy. 

ICE is detaining immigrant citizens in pockets of LA County.

Protestors have been standing up for them for the past three days. 

And the National Guard – under orders from Trump – have been boots on the ground since yesterday.

This is the America now  Fam.

Some would argue that this is the America it has always been. But that’s a conversation for another time.

Instead, I want to follow the lead of #EddieRuiz today and reshare a spoken word piece he shared during my conversation with him and his writing partner, #MiguelDuran on #WorksNProgress last month.
