Learning from Masters!

Fam, I love writing. 

Nope, it’s deeper than that. 

I write, because not breathing is not an option. 

So, last night, I braved LA rush hour traffic to glean wisdom from three grand master writers — Michael ConnellyLaurie R. King and Walter Mosley. To a standing room only crowd, they shared gems about their creative processes, their personal journeys, and the changed landscape of the publishing business.

It was so inspiring to see Connelly, King and Mosley – 68 to 72, respectively – still prolifically writing.  It also reminded me how blessed I am to be a writer. 

Not for the money. Not for the fame. But because it’s what God put me on this earth to do. 

At 52-years-old, Fam, I’ve been in this game for more than half my life now. And no lie, I’m tired. 

But I’m also wiser, I’ve learned how to work smarter not harder, and I have so much more left in my tank as a storyteller. 

Can’t let up on the gas now.
