Welp, Fam, today is Day 93 of our #WGAstrike.
And yesterday, I journeyed to my 9th picket site location to join my #prewga friend Diana on the line at #cbstvcity.
Not exactly convenient for parking, I had to walk 10 minutes in the boiling heat to get to the gate. And as I guzzled the water I brought with me, I saw signs telling me I was going in the right direction…
Once I arrived, I knew I was exactly where I supposed to be.
The picketing crew was small. Maybe 10-12 people. But the energy was so friendly and inviting.
Within a few moments of meeting her, I knew that was thanks to #4400 Showrunner, strike captain, #ArianaJackson. My Detroit sister by way of Ypsilanti, she kept us in line with her kind, protective energy, and kept us dancing with her #WGAstrong mixtape.😆
I also got a chance to meet writer extraordinaire-professor Camille Tucker! We’ve been FB friends for I don’t know how long, Fam, and yesterday was our first time meeting IRL.
It’s ironic that it’s taken our #writersstrike for me to venture out of my shell and connect with other writers.
Don’t get me wrong. I want us to get what we deserve and the strike to be over. But I’m grateful for how much I’ve grown and the connections I made.
One last picket site to go.
