Fam, a gratitude post…
Last week, I paused my #writersstrike picketing duties to return home to Detroit to help co-caregive my mom with my sister.
I had no idea how much I needed to see them both. 
I also didn’t know my quarterly visit would coincide with the 60th anniversary of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.’s march in Detroit where his famous “I Have a Dream” speech was first delivered.
How kismet it was for me to join my sister’s Delta sorors and hundreds of fellow Detroiters to walk in the same footsteps that Dr. King did six decades ago as I strike to protect the future of my livelihood as a Hollywood writer!
The moment wasn’t lost on me.
I’m even more inspired now to keep fighting the good fight.
And I’m grateful.
