As a child, I took my first breath as a poet. So, you can only imagine how psyched I was to see Warsan Shire‘s poetry give life to Beyonce’s breathtaking concept video, “Lemonade” this weekend.
Celebrating Black art, history, love, beauty, pain and triumph, “Lemonade” is beyond amazing. But what’s even more amazing is that Warsan’s poetry helped inspire it.
